Seimac was founded in Bedford, Nova Scotia by Joe Seiler and Hugh MacPherson, two retired combat systems engineers from the Canadian Navy. Over the years, the company evolved from being an electronics consulting firm to a world leader in the design and manufacture of specialized radios for mission-critical applications. Products included: Cospas-Sarsat beacons, a range of miniaturized ARGOS satellite radio transmitters used in tracking objects and animals in marine and terrestrial applications, GOES satellite transmitters, Spread Spectrum Radio Modems, and VHF radio and optical beacons.
In January 2007, Seimac Ltd. and Orion Electronics Ltd. amalgamated to create Cobham Tracking & Locating Ltd. Together with its UK subsidiary, Micromill Electronics Ltd., Cobham Tracking & Locating has more than 80 years of experience designing, manufacturing, delivering and supporting quality products.
