Dynex Technologies, Inc. has a long and distinguished track record of bringing breakthrough products to market. Founded as Cooke Engineering in 1952, renamed Dynatech Laboratories in 1968, and ultimately Dynex Technologies in 1996 – the company has been a leading innovator in microplate analysis. In the 1960s, Dynex introduced the first disposable Microtiter® plate and system, developing disposable pipettes, plate sealers, and inoculators. In the 1970s, Dynex began to automate dispensing, diluting, and pipetting and introduced the first manual microplate ELISA reader and molded immunoassay microplates. In the 1980s, Dynex automated microplate reading, introduced manual microplate ELISA washers, and developed the first commercial microplate fluorometer and microplate luminometer. In the 1990s, Dynex went to market with the first contiguous ELISA processing system consisting of reader, incubator, multi-reagent dispense, and washer modules. In 2000, we introduced the DSX – a fully automated four-plate walk-away ELISA workstation.
And we continue to innovate. Today, Dynex designs and manufactures a full range of automated workstations, laboratory instruments, and associated consumables that enable scientists and clinicians to make breakthrough discoveries, earlier, more-accurate diagnoses – innovations to improve health outcomes and enhance life. From fully automated ELISA workstations, to semi-automated absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence readers, to microplate washers, and the latest in analysis and control software – we design each of our products to meet the rigorous demands of the most challenging applications.
Headquartered just outside of Washington, D.C. in Chantilly, Virginia, Dynex employs a talented, multidisciplinary staff of approximately 40 people worldwide. These include design and service engineers, applications scientists, marketing specialists, and precision-manufacturing experts. Many hold advanced scientific or engineering degrees. Employees work cross-functionally to provide quick response to customers and to solve complex product-development and technical-support problems.
In October 2004, Dynex became a wholly owned subsidiary of Magellan Biosciences, Inc, which has invested in the best-available tools to manage "back-office" business processes – finance, IT, human resources – and provides additional resources for us at Dynex to focus on our core competencies: designing, making, and marketing best-in-class products to meet the changing needs of current and future customers, and providing top-quality service and technical support. Equally important, as part of Magellan, we can draw upon the expertise and resources of our sister companies – ESA Biosciences and TREK Diagnostic Systems. Scientists and engineers from across Magellan can now work together to share expertise, ideas, and technology platforms, driving innovation in product design and opening up new applications frontiers.
What hasn't changed is our commitment to our customers. We want the Dynex name to be synonymous with the highest-quality products and services, as well as superior technical and applications expertise. We work to earn our reputation every day – and we welcome your feedback and applications challenges. Contact us and let us know how we're doing, and what else we can do to help.
