OPTIMARE was founded in 1991. The primary goal of the company was to equip aircraft with sensor systems for remote sensing of marine pollution.

Shortly after, the company has strongly expanded its activities and has transferred its expertise also to new applications, as for example environmental analytics or polar research. Today, OPTIMARE consists of OPTIMARE Analytik GmbH & Co. KG in Wilhelmshaven and the OPTIMARE Sensorsysteme AG in Bremerhaven.

OPTIMARE covers a wide variety of expertise in optics, electronics, mechanics, software development, and analytics through a team of highly qualified scientists, engineers and technicians. At the same time, our focus is directed to all areas of the environment.

At OPTIMARE, the development of optical sensors for the detection of marine oil pollution remains an important business line. Presently, many aircraft on the international market are equipped with OPTIMARE technology.

The OPTIMARE Analytik GmbH & Co. KG offers measurement techniques and services for environmental analytics and pharmacology. Highly innovative techniques such as laser-induced fluorescence or laser-based ion mobility spectroscopy are applied for the fast detection of environmentally, pharmacologically or safety-relevant substances.

OPTIMARE Analytik GmbH & Co. KG develops control, detection and evaluation electronics, which are utilized in all of our divisions and for the development of customer specific devices.
