More than anything else, Biosan Laboratories can be defined by our people. From our shipping department to our clerical staff, from our highly trained technical scientists to our dedicated management, Biosan is a company that values customer service and understands the need for maintaining good rapport with our diverse customer base.

Biosan Laboratories currently has 15 employees. Our laboratory is staffed with four microbiologists, including our Laboratory Director, who has a Ph.D. in microbiology. There is also a technical assistant in the lab who helps out with just about everything. Our laboratory personnel are committed to giving you quality work with the fastest possible turnaround time.

There are two people at Biosan whose sole responsibility is to run our automated dipslide production. These individuals are highly trained operators who have learned the importance of aseptic technique and contamination control in this very delicate manufacturing operation.

Our clerical staff, which includes our customer service department, works hand in hand with our shipping department to assure the most rapid response to all of your orders. Wherever possible, we pledge to ship all orders within 48 hours of receipt. In most cases, orders are processed and shipped the same day they are received. To further serve our customers, our Technical Marketing Director also has a degree in microbiology. This way we can help you decide how best to use our products and services, as well as which product is right for you.

If it's true that our staff defines who we are, it is also true that our customers define why we are here and how we've stayed around for over 30 years. We realize that without our customers we wouldn't exist. Our goal is to never forget that premise, and to continue with customer service as our number one priority.

Biosan Laboratories is a company dedicated to solving problems of microbial contamination in the industrial environment. Our beginnings date back to 1973, when our founder and president, Dr. Harold Rossmoore, saw the need for an independent microbiology laboratory where clients could count on reliable, unbiased, and accurate results. Initially, the lab was a modest operation in Dr. Rossmoore's basement, with nothing more sophisticated than a pressure cooker, a microscope, an incubator, and various other odds and ends. One year later, the company moved to the Ferndale, Michigan location, where we remained until 1994.

In our Ferndale location, we grew in a number of ways. Our actual working area doubled in those 20 years, from 3,000 square feet to 6,000 square feet. Our growth in size during those years would not have been possible without the introduction of our test kits. Back in 1976, we realized that many of our customers would benefit from the ability to test their own processes on site. In a joint project with Miles Laboratories, we developed Biostix, a test strip for measuring bacterial contamination. A year later saw the development of Mycostix, a companion product for enumerating fungi. Shortly thereafter, we came out with our SRB kit for culturing anaerobic, sulfate reducing bacteria. Our product line, at least for the time being, was complete.

Our reputation in the field of microbial contamination control continued to grow. We were called upon to consult for multinational companies across the country and around the world, and our reputation with the Big Three auto companies right in our own backyard became increasingly strong. We always maintained a staff of graduate microbiologists whose major focus continued to be the performance of quality work.

Although our test kits were widely used throughout industry, we began to realize that a large segment of potential customer base was being missed. These are the people who preferred an agar dipslide to our paper test strip. We listened to these customers, and began to have dipslides manufactured for us. Extensive research and development into product stability, quick and responsive technical services, as well as customer service after the sale, allowed us to have enormous growth in our dipslide business. However, we felt that until we could make the slides ourselves, at our own facility, we could never quite perfect the product.

In 1994, we were able to solve that problem. In that year, we moved from our rented facility in Ferndale into our own 6400 square foot building in Warren, Michigan. At last we found a home we could call our own. After we were settled, our first major project was adding a 3600 square foot manufacturing area to the existing building. Within that addition we designed a state-of-the-art clean room. Inside the clean room we installed a high-tech array of machines which are driven by computer logic. Today we are dedicated to making the highest quality agar dipslides available anywhere on earth. We also continue our focus on providing accurate, unbiased, and rapid results in our laboratory.
