Postnova Analytics offers Advanced Analytical Solutions based on systems, services and supplies for Field Flow Fractionation (FFF) and Laser Light Scattering. Originally started in 1986 by Prof. Giddings, the inventor of Field-Flow Fractionation and two-times Nobel prize nominee, the company today is recognized as the leader in the Field-Flow Fractionation industry. Postnova is the only company world-wide offering the complete range of Field-Flow Fractionation systems, combined with unique Multi-Angle Light Scattering detectors customized for polymer, protein, nanoparticle and microparticle fractionation and characterization.
After comprehensive studies in the US (University of California at San Diego) and Europe (Technical University of Munich), Dr. Thorsten Klein founded Postnova Analytics GmbH after completing his Ph.D. in 1997. He was driven by the idea of building up a company with a powerful and innovative product portfolio made for scientists working in the area of biotechnology, polymer and particle research. The founder's vision was to build up a company which offers complete analytical solutions for complex analytical tasks from only one hand.
Short after the foundation, Postnova introduced the world's first totally integrated automatic and complete Asymmetrical Flow-FFF (AF4) system. The next milestone was reached when Postnova was able to present the first FFF system with on-line coupling to DLS detection for high resolution and fast particle and polymer characterization in the end of 1998. These series of innovations was followed up in 1999 by the introduction of Postnova´s first own modular laser multi-detector, incorporating static and dynamic laser light scattering, and Postnova´s first UV detection system using DAD technology. Work on further new and innovative analytical technologies continues.
Postnova first was based in an office in Munich downtown in the state of Bavaria in Germany. But short after this new employees and the need for a bigger application lab resulted in moving to our new and bigger facilities in the Munich Center of Technology. Following the path of expansion Postnova another time moved in 2000. Now Postnova´s headquarters are based in a new building in Eresing in the middle of a commercial park west of the top biotech region Munich-Martinsried.
