Superlum products carry the "CE" mark as they have been tested for compliance to European Standards and the relevant sections of the European Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive and Low Voltage Directive.
Company History
1992 – Superlum Ltd. a private company is founded.
Staff in 1992: 4 owners + 1 employee.
Product: up to 2 mW power SM fiber coupled
SLD modules at 820 nm for fiberoptic gyroscopes.
First commercial shipment:
May 1992, 3 pcs SLD-361-A-DIP-SM
Mission Statement:
To manufacture the best SLD modules.
1993 – The company is striving to improve:
SLD performance parameters,
Packaging, Environmental stability,
Reliability, Quality assurance, Marketing.
1994 – Full-time staff has increased to 12 people.
Product : gyro-rated 820 nm SLDs modules,
wide-spectrum SLD-37 prototypes at 820 nm,
prototypes at 1300 nm bands.
Total number of delivered SLD modules
exceeds 300 pieces.
1995 – Annual shipping quantity of SLD has
increased to 1000+ pieces.
+5 V ‘PILOT’ drivers are added to product list.
1996 – Company is focusing on R&D projects.
A lot of investments into study
of new approaches to SLD design.
1997 – Full-time staff has increased to 18 employees.
HP diodes deliver 10 mW from SM fiber
at 820 nm and 980 nm bands.
Wide spectrum SLD-47 provides 70 nm
optical BW at 950 nm.
1998 – HP diodes are developed at 680 nm and 1300 nm bands.
First 1550 nm SLDs are introduced commercially.
The company has designed its own Homepage.
1999 – Superlum SLDs cover most of
wavelength bands typical for LDs.
New PILOT-2 drivers allow easy and safe
operation of all SLD modules.
2000 – Re-organization. Company name changes
to Superlum Diodes, Ltd.
Full-time staff has increased to 25 employees.
Company started intensive production
investments.
2001 – Company moved to new location.
Full-time staff has increased to 50 people.
New manufacturing lines are opened.
Sales are doubled. More than 5000 of different SLDs
are delivered to more than 100 customers
in 29 countries.
2002 – We are 10 years old!
2003 – Full-time staff is 82 people. New SLD-based product "Broadlighter" with 150 nm spectral width allows to get ultrahigh, 3.2 µm, OCT resolution in ophtalmology.
2004 – Product development team expanded Broadlighter product line.
Superlum was honored by Photonics Spectra Magazine with a Photonics Circle of Excellence Award for developing one of the twenty-five best new products of the year 2004, Broadlighter D-890.
